Softball Tournament

Walt: write a recount with focus on expensive words

One freezing morning. We had a softball tournament at  9:30. Everyone was cold. It felt like antarctica. The softball tournament was held at Dunkirk .

First we warmed up. Next we got out the equipment and started to throw ball around. Everyone was eye-opened to the final against Ruapotaka. I was pitching everyone was telling me to pitch fast so Ruapotaka does not make any home runs. So I started pitching fast everyone was cheering for the finals. The softball tournament was fundamental to us.

Next the umpire said to us that it is our turn to go bat now. As we sat down into our batting line up Mrs barry told me to bat forth so that I can try and bring two home runs. So I did two home runs. We won the   the softball tournament for 2015 everyone was cheering for us. We were Champions. Everyone was celebrating.

After that we scurried like a cheetah to the school van.

“Everyone, came to me and said well done Wesley that was a great game. Then we were on the way back to school. Everyone was exhausted from the softball game. As we arrived to school I shared the news with my class and my teacher. My was so proud of myself and my teammates. Ruapotaka did not have any home runs. Mrs barry was so proud of the softball team.

Finally the softball tournament was over, everyone was exhausted from the softball tournament.

The next day I felt the pain in my shoulder from pitching.

If I wanted to be remembered I would like to be a professional drummer because I really like playing drums and other instruments. I would like to drum for a famous artist like Kranium No body has to know. This Sunday I am playing drums for my church. Even though I Played before I am still nervous to play in front of my church.

Making the longest chain

Making a Chain

Walt: 1. write a recount.

        2. integrate maths and writing.

Yesterday my class and I we making the longest chain out of paper. We had to work in groups of two, so I worked with Koliata.

First we had to estimate the length and the width. We used an A5 paper. Then we cut the paper and stick it together and join it. “Koliata, told me to use the length to make it longer.” But I said not if we use the length then it will be come short but if we use the width it will be longer.

Thereafter we placed our paper chain next to the 1 meter ruler and we measured it to make the comparison. Koliata and I made 169 cm chain out a A5 paper. Some of the paper fell off from the chain because we didn’t stick it probably.

Finally we finished, I think our chain was one of the shortest chains. After we estimate the measurement of the chain we had to estimate how long the chain is. Then we compared our chain with the other students. The longest chain was Viliami’s and Howard.

I enjoyed making a chain out of a A5 paper. I think i made it before in the juniors, but I can’t remember. I would like to make another paper chain again.

The longest chain was Viliami’s and Howard’s chain. Their chain was 383 cm long. The shortest chain was Ben’s and Dion’s, their chain was 86 cm long. Koliata and I made a 169 cm long chain out of a A5 paper.

Paris attack

WHen I heard that Paris got bombed. I was shocked because I would like to go to Paris 

but this happened. Now I don't want to go to Paris anymore. 

Reflections, Translation and Rotation

Walt: Revise transformation.

Today we revised reflections, translation and rotation. I played this transformation activity online.

I made upto level 4, then my teacher ask if anyone is confused?. So I went down to the mat with Koliata and IFa. We learned coordinates I understand it really well. Next time I would like to play more activity’s like this.

The Undefeated Champs

Yesterday the All Black was at Victoria Park. I wish I could celebrate with them.

Come on the All Blacks management plan the celebration after school hours 

or in the week end.

Art Work

Today I completed my art on a foil. We started our art last week and we completed it today.

I am really proud with my art I really like it.  Next time I would like to make another art work like this.

This data was collected  by showing of hands. The  we used the information to draw a  double bar graph online tools. More boys watched  the game than girls because some of the girls are not into. On Friday we predicted our scores. Robin was had the closest score he had 34 - 17, the second closest score was Tane his score was 38 - 17.

New Zealand vs Australia

I think that the All Blacks will win because they are the best. I think the score will be 35 to 29.
My favorite player is Nehe Milner-Skudder because he is the man stepping. It will be a tough game but I think that the All blacks will come out on top.

Today we had ripper rugby. Our coach's name Nick.We played Bull rush  and a game of ripper. I was in the white team, the winning team.

Improving my Recount Writing

Basic Facts

Yesterday I wrote my basic facts test. I wrote stage 6 in my basic facts test. I got 588 from my basic facts test. I have improved from the last test. Next time I would like to get more than 588.

Drop, Cover, Hold

On Thursday the 15th of October there is the international shakeout day of actions. It will start at 9.15 am. New Zealand is aiming to get 1.5 million New Zealanders to take part in this event. New Zealand is the first country to participant this year. Only 1.2 Million New Zealanders has already registered.

Dear Ms Parkes

Thank you for helping us improve our writing. Thank you for your suggestions and your kindness to us.

I enjoyed listening to you teach us ideas to improve our writing. I enjoyed writing the diamante poem because it was easy and fun. I think I am doing well in my writing.

Simple sentences are easy for me. I  can use quotation marks probably in my writing. I understand paragraphs and punctuation.

But I need more practise with my complex and compound sentences. Next term I would like to be in your writing group again. So I can improve my writing grades.

I appreciate you taking  your time just to come and help us with our writing.

While planting oak trees at the park, Wesley, Alyssa and I found a old dirty lamp. I decided to wipe the dirt off the lamp when suddenly a blue genie appeared and said he would grant us three wishes. Each of us was allowed one wish.

Alysa

For my wish I choose Honesty. I have chosen Honesty because I don’t lie if it is bad. I want to start telling the truth to my family and friends and not to lie at home either. I should also start to compliment people not for the sake of it. Also when I witness something bad I have to discourage it or if it is really bad I get a teacher. I should do this by hanging out with honesty people.

My wish is I want to be diligent . If I’ll be diligent  I will  give 100% in school work,  constantly  be busy by doing my work and homework and I will be attentive. I will do my work and not get distracted by the others in class. I have shown diligence in room 9. I am going to work even harder.

Ifa

I said, “Genie my wish is to be Loyal to my friends.” I am loyal to my parents at home. I help them at home with the dishes and cleaning our house. I am also loyal to my Nana because she is old. Everytime she goes to hang out by herself I go with her to check

if she is ok. Lastly I am loyal to my friends at school. I stick up for my friend Dion when ever he gets bullied by the boys in Room nine and ten. Sometimes when I try help Dion they would get their friends from room 12 and then they start wanting to fight. So I just need to not be very aggressive when I stick up for my friends or else it would get overboard. I also need to help my parents everyday instead of three days a week.

After that, the Genie gave us the three wishes. The blue genie disappeared back into the old lamp. We were all happy after that day.

Deci-mat

Walt: understand place value of decimals using deci-mats.

1 whole is divided into tenths.

1 whole is divided into hundredths.

1 whole is divided into thousandths.

Yesterday my class and I played a game named deci-mat. We played deci-mat to help us understand the place value of decimals. We had to roll the dice to play, if you got two hundredths then you have to colour in two hundredths on the sheet. This game was easy for me because I know my decimals but I helped others. Next I will like learn more about multiplication and division of decimals.

James and his brother went to South America.  James’s brother got a job there.

A few days later James went with his brother fishing on a lake. They caught a black Piranha.

The Black Piranha has burning red eyes and its body is very stocky.  It also has the sharpest teeth on earth. The black Piranha is found in South America.  They are Fearsome hunters in the jungle water. They are almost bulldog like in appearance. They move very quick in the water.  

James got bitten from the black Piranha because he was playing with it.  As soon as James got bitten, he let the black piranha go and they paddled back home.

Milo Mug

Today I made a design for my Milo mug. First I selected a picture from google to draw on a piece of paper. Then I outlined it on the MIlo mug. Finally I marked it with a vivid.

In this game I had to know my areas. I got 14 hits but I misses and I got 93%. Did game was easy for me because I know it all. I am really happy that I got 93%. Next I would like to play more activity on area.

Maori Myth

Walt: write an impact introduction to our Maori Myth

“Look!” yelled Tane as they passed through the storm. The waves were as big as an elephant, the wind was strong like an ox. The waka was being tossed around the ocean like a rubber.

Earlier that day Tangaroa and his wife separated because his wife cheated on him for Tane. Tangaroa, The god of the sea was letting his anger out on Tane and his father. The sea was crashing through the waka. The salty water slapped Tane and his father in the face.

Mahuika, the fire god went to tangaroa and calmed him down. Tangaroa

was calm. Mahuika took Tangaroa for a walk to let the problem not border him.  

After that Tane and his father went home safely and Tangaroa did not lose his temper with anyone anymore and Tane and his father lived happily ever after.

Jam Biscuit

Walt: write a procedure for making Jam biscuit

Success Criteria: use a verb to begin every step in the method. The ingredients of Jam biscuit:

• 125 butter (½)
• ½ cup sugar
• 1 egg
• 2 cups of flour
• 1 tsp baking powder
• 1 tbsp of milk

Method:

1. Preheated the oven to 180 degrees celsius
2. Melt the butter in the microwave.
3. Pour ½ a cup of sugar into the butter.
4. Creamed the butter with ½ cup of sugar.
5. Insert an egg into the creamed sugar and butter.
6. Merge it altogether
7. Deposit  2 cups of flour into the texture.
8. Pour 1 tsp of baking powder
9. Stream 1 tbsp of milk.
10. Used our thumb to  press it down to make a dent for the jam.
11. Prepare the Jam biscuit for 15 to 18 minutes.
